What is repentance?
Is repenting necessary? Yes and Yes.
The action of repenting; sincere regret and remorse. Not just changing your mind but also changing your life and not letting your emotions take the driver’s seat and cause you to sin. These two definitions are from Google but they make absolute sense to whomever reads them right.

Before I dive into the scriptures, I will remind you by saying that whoever decides to repent is on their way to heal completely and this is self love. Repentance is shown or can be seen if different types of ways, for example if life misled you to wrong paths, you can choose to change and start on the right path, this is a type of repentance to self. This is like saying,”sorry myself, I misled you forgive me and I decide from today hence forth we are setting on the right path.”
Secondly, if you wronged someone you can go to them and ask for their pardon. Who loves being around a person whom they wronged and has an attitude because of un resolved misunderstandings? This cuts off the air in the room and suffocates peace. These scenarios are very crucial to our repentance journey.
There are many reasons behind repentance but before I dive into them, I will just give the basic ones. It improves our relationships with God, ourselves and people. Just like forgiveness sets people free from the inside out repentance does the same for the person doing it. Back in the day, I couldn’t fathom how someone could let go of hurt but my journey with the God the Holy Spirit, has really been a healing one. He positions your heart in a posture where you do not hold onto sin, see people the way God sees them .
All this does not come one time but diligence in fellowship and communion with the holy spirit, it keeps you steady on this road.
Close your eyes!! Imagine your life after you change your life from living wrong to living right. Then imagine yourself going to that person you wronged and saying am sorry!! I know it’s unimaginable but the Holy Spirit can help you. King David in the scriptures of the bible is one of the outstanding characters who repented, when he wrong people. I will give an example of Uriah the Hittite, one of his army commanders. He killed him after making his wife pregnant. God condemned him through Prophet Nathan .David never looked for anyone to weigh his sin but turned to God and said am sorry.
In conclusion, when you love yourself this much to forgive you for the past, try to repent where it’s necessary you are freeing yourself from the inside out. While you are on this journey, you will feel the energy and strength to love your neighbor. Just remember this, it’s all by the power of the holy spirit.
